Event Date

Three companies will pitch to an investor group but instead of the usual closed-door, private discussion by potential investors to evaluate whether they want to pursue the company, the investor panel will do the same analysis in full view of the presenters and the audience members.  Everyone gets the chance to hear what happens in those closed-door discussions, and to learn what really matters to investors. At the end of the event, the audience will vote on a "Best in Show" winner to determine who will go on to the final "Best of the Best" event in New York City to compete against other teams in the Mid-Atlantic region.

1st Pitch Life Science is organized by Mid Atlantic Bio Angels (MABA), a NY-based life science investor group, whose members participate in the investor panel.  The program is designed to expose aspiring life science entrepreneurs to constructive criticism of their pitches and business models from experienced and knowledgeable professionals.  In addition, participants get to connect with future advisors, mentors, and colleagues to grow their early stage ventures.Audience members will hear how entrepreneurs are pursuing new science and new business opportunities, with an opportunity to provide their own feedback regarding the value and effectiveness of those efforts. Be sure to fill out the "Looking For" section on our registration page to receive a different-color name badge with this info printed on it. Others will be able to easily tell you're looking for something, helping you promote your networking!

The 1st Pitch event will be preceded by a "Meet with Investors" round table discussion, from 4:30 -- 5:30 for academics and entrepreneurs. Separate registration required).  The investors at the round table will discuss and take questions about topics relating to the angel investment process, including how to approach angel groups for investment, things to do and to avoid, things investors look for in an investment opportunity, and how angel groups work with other groups.
